Become a volunteer workshop facilitator for our new RISE Institute, a new series of personal development workshops for women who need help setting and reaching life and career goals. The objective of the RISE Institute is to provide participants with self-esteem-based life skills, which, along with our regular array of job readiness offerings, can empower women to find employment and reach other personal goals.

Train to Become a Volunteer for Moving Forward 2012
Become a volunteer for our new Moving Forward program, which gives teenage girls in the foster care system the support they need to plan for their futures. Held in the evenings at the Veterans’ Courthouse in Newark, the three-week, nine-hour workshop series helps the girls with career direction, job readiness, and college planning.

Career Closet of NCJW Moves to Livingston
At a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local and county officials, the Linda and Rudy Slucker NCJW Center of Women (CFW) celebrated the grand opening of its Career Closet, a service for women who need business-appropriate clothing to jump-start their personal economic recovery, at 349 East Northfield Road, Livingston. Launched 10 years ago, Career Closet of NCJW provides – free of charge – new or like-new business-appropriate clothing and accessories to women in need

NCJW/Essex Volunteers Staff Soup Kitchen on MLK Day
Forty volunteers, ranging in age from 12 to 72, organized, cooked, served, and cleaned up in order to feed more than 70 people in need of a hot meal on Martin Luther King Day on January 16. Held at Christine’s Kitchen at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in West Orange, the MLK Day lunch was organized and sponsored by NCJW/Essex. The diners included local men, women, and children ranging in age from 7 to 70. See our slide show.

NCJW Back 2 School Store outfits nearly 500 needy children.
They arrived by the busload, hundreds of children from Newark, East Orange, and other Essex County towns, to "shop" for brand-new clothes and school supplies at NCJW’s Third Annual Back 2 School Store on Sunday, July 31.
