If you are a thinker and a doer... If you believe in your head and heart that things can and should be better... then National Council of Jewish Women is for you.

Inspired by Jewish values, NCJW is the most satisfying place where women like you come together to build a better community through programs that educate, motivate, encourage, and empower. NJCW members volunteer their talents, skills and know-how to make a difference. We invite you to join us.

For more information about any of these programs and how you can get involved, call the NCJW office at 973-740-0588.

Career Closet

green lines

The Career Closet, a division of the Job Readiness Program which is part of the Linda and Rudy Slucker NCJW Center for Women, has found a new home. Formerly housed at the NCJW Thrift Shop in West Orange, we have relocated to the St. James Episcopal Church on the Corner of Valley Road and Bellevue Avenue in Upper Montclair.

The Career Closet Program supplies desperately needed interview and career appropriate clothing to women who find themselves as sole supporters of their families and themselves after divorce, separation, death of a spouse, a spouse's illness or any other reason a woman would find herself needing to reenter the job force. These clients come from the NCJW Job Readiness Program and many other agencies in Essex County and the surrounding areas that are dedicated to helping women and their families. Our clients come from all different backgrounds and are from all walks of life. When a client comes to the Career Closet, she is assisted by a "personal shopper" in selecting clothing suitable for that all-important job interview, or outfits to start her new job with confidence. The Career Closet is run by trained volunteers on an appointment-only basis; all clothing is donated.

Clothing drop off is by appointment only at this time. All clothing must be clean, up to date, in good condition, and on hangers. We can use business appropriate suits, skirts, slacks, blouses and accessories. Please call the Center for Women office at 973-994-4994 to set up an appointment.
